It’s been a LONG TIME, friends, since I’ve posted on here! Life happens, right?! Well, I’m back for this month sharing What’s UP!! As usual, I’m linking up with Shay and Shaeffer to share this blog with others. I just love seeing what other people are up to! If you blog, feel free to jump in and add your blog to the link, too!
Here we GO!
What we’re eating this week…
Now that we’re empty nesters, I’m trying to cook about 3 times a week, eat out once and have leftovers on the other nights. Much different from having to cook every night for a family of 6!
Sloppy Joes, carrots & dip
Chicken Alfredo, broccoli
Chicken Fajitas, chips & salsa
What I’m reminiscing about…
I’m seeing so many pics of kids playing sports during the week and tournaments on the weekend. When we had 4 at home in the summer, we ran around like crazy going to all of the sports activities- baseball, softball, basketball. Life is much different now as empty nesters. We’re trying to find things to do, especially in the evening. I miss these days, but I DO enjoy the slower pace of life now!
What I’m loving…
Air conditioning! It’s been pretty hot in Wisconsin lately!
I’ve also been loving and enjoying my Daughter in Loves. They are each unique and special in so many ways! This was the winning whiffle ball team a few weeks ago in the guys vs. the girls battle. Yay, us!!!!!
What we’ve been up to…
We traveled to our daughter’s college in Eau Claire, WI to help set up her rental house for the next school year. She will be living with 3 other friends in this house that was built in 1916. It sure has a lot of character!! (wink) While we were there, she took us to breakfast and gave us a little tour around town. It really IS a cute town!
Another exciting thing…We recently bought a lake house, so we’ve been getting that set up to enjoy this summer!!
Our super awesome neighbors are moving out of state in a few months, so I dread saying goodbye. Insert sad face.
What I’m working on…
Right now I’m working on becoming a minimalist. Minimalism means so many different things to different people. I’m not the kind of minimalist that has only the essentials in my house. I like to have wall decor, and seasonal touches in my house. To me, minimalist is reducing the number of things that I own, so I know where things are, and the house is easy to clean. My first adventure was minimizing things I took on vacation. We traveled to Florida last January and I purposely mixed and matched clothing so I could take less. It went pretty well. These are the clothes and shoes that I packed for a week of travel. Yes, we did have a washer & dryer to do a load of clothes once, so that helped too!
Have you tried a capsule wardrobe? I’m looking into trying a capsule wardrobe for the Fall. Classy Yet Trendy is the website where I’m looking to buy. Stay tuned, I’ll let you know how it goes!
What I’m excited about…
Taking up fishing again now that the lake is right in our backyard!
What I’m watching/reading…
I’m typically a non-fiction reader, but I tried book #1 in a series and I LOVED it!! The Nantucket Inn
Hubby and I just finished Love on The Spectrum-US and we absolutely loved it!! Did you watch it? What did you think??
I’ve heard good things about Selling Sunset, so I’m into the first few episodes of that!
What I’m listening to…
Coastal Grandmother on Spotify. It’s soothing and relaxing!
What I’m wearing…
Capris, Capris, Capris- Denim, black, & white
What I’m doing this weekend…
We’re having a little family get-together this weekend at the lake. We will have a cookout, play games, boat rides, fish, and watch fireworks!
What I’m looking forward to next month…
Getting family together is always my favorite, and one of my daughters in loves has a birthday!!!
What else is new?
Did I tell you our Teacup Yorkie had a birthday this week?? OMgosh, she’s 14!!!
See you next month! I’ll be sharing an easy dinner recipe here soon! Thanks for stopping by!!
