It was such a busy and fun week for us! Let’s start with last weekend!!
We spent Saturday in Madison, WI for the National History Day “State” Contest. My daughter and her friend made an exhibit board on Gandhi’s Salt March and they competed with other students around the state. Unfortunately, they didn’t make it to the national contest but we walked around town and visited various shops while we waited for the judging to end, which was fun. My sweet husband was so patient to visit all of the teeny bopper stores!! The incredibly long day finished with Culver’s frozen custard so we considered it a WIN!
Sunday night found these two rascals over for dinner! (son #1 and his wife) It’s always good to see them! And now that they have a house of their own, they don’t bring their laundry over anymore! I miss those “folding” parties!
During the week, a dear friend invited me up to her lake house for the day. It was so beautiful. The wind off the lake was a little chilly, but hopefully I behaved and she will invite me back!
Here is her backyard view and a pic of the little coffee shop where we had lunch.
Have you ever been to a restaurant that served food from Nepal?? Well, I hadn’t either until this week. Some friends and I met up and had dinner at an interesting restaurant that served things like “Veggie Momo with aarchar, eggplant bharta and chicken tarkari. I can honestly say that I could relate to the ladies who played it safe and got the B.L.T. with Himalayan mayo!! In typical fashion I shook up the crowd by ordering dessert- New York Cheesecake! Who knew they had cheesecake in Nepal?? I hope they didn’t use goat milk or something!
The ladies were so excited to be on the blog this week too! Hi Girlies!!
What do all of these ladies have in common? We all took a “Post natal with baby” class at the YMCA when our first born were teeny tiny babies. We started a playgroup and got together regularly for years and years on Tuesday afternoons. Our teeny tiny babies are in their 20’s now, and we’re STILL getting together! We always joked when they were little that some day we would be getting together for bloody marys and wine…..and here we are!! Friends Forever!!
With all of this activity, I hardly had time to go out to check on the new house. I went out a few nights ago and captured a little of what was going on.
We have a stairway to the basement now- not very safe, but I can see where it’s going to be. My knees get that weak feeling every time the dogs go over and look down into the basement- YIKES!
We have some “spires” on the roof to dress things up a little. We WILL be painting them so they aren’t quite so white!
And we also have a pretty copper cupela on top of the garage. It will eventually have a weather vane on top with a goose!
They’ve started digging a few trenches in the basement. I think concrete will be poured next week, not sure though!
I drove by on Thursday and saw that they were digging the well. I sure hope they find some water- I would hate to go without water in my new house! They might just have to leave that port a potty in the front yard!
Plumbing is going in. A beautiful drain has been installed in my shower- yay!
So happy with the progress- can’t believe it’s actually going to take them until November to finish. Thankful for workers who do a great job, have a great attitude and they clean up after themselves!
In case you wondered, Bella is still shedding. Haha!
** I updated my blog to a newer version of WordPress and I’m still working on sizing pictures to fit my blog. Thanks for your patience!!
Have a great weekend!!
Looks like you had a very busy week. The house looks like it is coming along nicely….must be an exciting time. I have a group of friends that I also met at birthing class and still keep in touch with. They are the best.
