I’m linking up with Ashley and Erika to talk about something on my heart lately! Today I want to talk about High School Graduation! With Covid-19, my daughter’s graduation has been re-scheduled to July, but at least she has one! It got to be hard, but it isn’t the first time a graduation ceremony had to be changed in some way!
I think back to my graduation in the 1980’s. Our high school typically had the ceremony outside in our super cool football stadium. Well, it rained on that day, so things were changed to the school gym. It was still memorable and we got to celebrate with our classmates, just in a different place. Here’s a peek from my graduation.
See those roses in the picture? Well, I had just started dating a guy and he brought those roses to my graduation party. The roses stayed beautiful FOREVER! I guess it was a picture of things to come… he later became my hubby, and we’ve been married for almost 30 years! I digress…
Here I was in my cap and gown….
My graduation cake made by a super talented friend!! It was incredible!
and my graduation party goodies….
So many things were cancelled or postponed for my daughter, but I know she will have an amazing day later this summer!!!
Where was your high school graduation ceremony? Indoor or Outdoor? Drop it in the comments!! =)
We also had rain on our graduation day so our ceremony was held inside in one of the local school’s auditoriums. I actually have graduation photos with my husband because we began dating our junior year of high school.
High School Sweethearts! That’s awesome!! Thanks for stopping by, Joanne!
I remember it well, Jill! And those roses did last for a very, very long time. I was impressed with your gentleman friend and still am. I remember the graduation in the gym. Huge crowd, even with the rain. And the cake…..Our dear friend Chris made this for you as a gift. What a blessing and wasn’t it beautiful? Well, that was years ago, but it brings back memories of a very happy time for all of us. I will never forget it.
I figured you would remember the details even more than I would!! You threw an awesome celebration…thanks!!!!
My high school graduation was in the gym. My dad was on the school board at the time so he was on the stage. He actually handed me my diploma and I gave him a big hug! The crowd wondered what was going on…hehe.
Love your pics. Makes me want to go dig in the basement for mine!
That’s so sweet, Julie! It made a special day even MORE special! Thx for sharing!!!!
