Oh….HI!!! Our daughter’s spring break was so late this year!! We had a whirlwind Easter weekend in Iowa which included the stomach flu at the hotel and a 5 hour drive back home- THAT could have been a blog post of it’s own!! Considering THAT, we were SO READY to hop a plane and get away! I was sure ready to see palm trees, or ANY sort of tree that had leaves and experience warm temps! Wisconsin is a little slow to warm up this year!!
We got to the airport in plenty of time!! While waiting for boarding, we had time to snap a few photos…this is daughter-in-love #2!! Note: Son #3 didn’t get to come on the trip because he was getting ready for finals at college! BOOOOO!!
I found time to buy a snack, too!!
The flight was great! Little man (our grandson) even had a nap during the flight!!
I just LOVE his smile!!
We landed, rented a couple of Mini vans, had dinner at Chik-fil-A and then headed to our rental house!
It sure was beautiful!! Plenty of space for 9 people to relax and enjoy!! The house was 8 miles from the Disney Parks in Kissimmee, Florida.
It didn’t take long for Hubby to hit up the pool, and I sat out and enjoyed the patio, too!!
After it got dark, we went to bed so thankful that we all made it on the trip! Believe me when I say that it was a miracle, with the timing of the stomach flu!!
This was the most awesome vacation for all, because:
- I’m not a Disney fan and didn’t want to go to the parks at all.
- Our older kids and their spouses (who wanted to go) took our daughter!
- When they didn’t want to take the baby, we got to babysit!! =)
Day 1- MAGIC KINGDOM
EVERYONE, except for hubby and I went to the Magic Kingdom from 10 am- 11 pm. They rode rides, went to parades, ate, and watched fireworks!! They look happy, don’t they??
While the kids were having a blast there, hubby went golfing for the afternoon and I had the most “Introverted afternoon” ever!! I read a book, sat on the patio, watched a webinar, took a nap, and watched Dr. Phil!! It was divine!!
Later, Hubby took me out for dinner at Miller’s Ale House. The “no cooking” on vacation is a great plan, by the way!
After dinner we hit up the grocery store to find meat to grill for the next day, and found that all of the meat in the store had been pulled and put in the back because of refrigeration issues…they told us we could still get some meat- we just had to ask for it! Ummmm….no thanks!!
The kids came home from the Park exhausted, hungry and happy!! Great day!!

Beautiful post, Ms. Jill. I loved it all, of course. Just wish I were years younger, so I could have tagged along with the kiddos. Your home away from home was a beauty. Couldn’t have asked for anything more. So happy that the weather cooperated and the you all got some use out of the fantastic pool. Especially glad that SweetPea got to really enjoy WDW. I knew she would love it. Thanks for all of the great pictures and stories from your trip. Glad you all recovered from the tummy bug. I know that wasn’t a “Magical Time”! Hugs and thanks…….
It WAS a magical time..even if I didn’t hit the parks!! Next vacation, you’re going, too!! =)
