If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile you know that I’ve been trying to simplify my life- my schedule & my STUFF! Let me tell ya, moving helps you realize just how much “stuff” you have and knowing that you’ll have to physically carry it out of your house and find a place for it in the new house really gave me a kick in the fanny to decide to donate and sell things that I was not using!
Under my kitchen sink. Well, first of all it’s an odd sort of storage space, having to work around all of the pipes and hoses. Because of that reason, I decided that I was only going to store the things that I use on a daily basis. Previously, I had stored many, many cleaners under there and it was a jumbled up mess. Now, I can see exactly where things are and grab them quickly to get the job done! I cannot lie, I stole this idea from Jen and her Youtube channel “How Jen does it,” so feel free to steal the organization idea from me!! (let’s call it sharing) Here’s what’s under my kitchen sink…
I’ve had it this way for about 5 months and it is GREAT!! Even the kids know where to go to get replacement trash bags or how to start the dishwasher! Let’s take a closer look!
On the far left side I keep a set of rubber gloves to clean with or do dishes. (It’s held with a command hook and binder clip.) In the waaaayyyy back you will see a fire extinguisher…just in case mama over bakes dinner- lol!
You will also see some rags that I use to wipe down the counter tops or any spills. These are just old towels that are cut up and stacked.
Moving toward the middle, you will find TRASH BAGS. My favorite kitchen trash bags are the Kirkland brand from Costco, but I think these are Glad trash bags. After dinner I try my best to get the trash out of the house and replace the bag, so we have a clean and fresh start for the next day.
The next bin holds anything related to DISHES. You can see my favorite dish washing detergent- the blue Dawn in the back snuggled up with a small Jet Dry Rinse for my dishwasher on the left. I also try to run the dishwasher right after dinner so that dishes are clean and ready to unload the next morning. Dishwasher tablets are stored in the middle in a separate container so they don’t fight with the extra sponges on the left hand side.
On the far right is a bin that contains CLEANERS. I keep my window/glass cleaner, granite cleaner and all purpose cleaner right up front, because I reach for them OFTEN!! Toward the back I am storing some stainless steel cleaner wipes that I am trying to use up (they weren’t my favorite,) and some wood cleaning wipes to wipe off spaghetti sauce when it splatters on my cabinets or any other food stuff! The tall bottle in the back is hardwood floor cleaner (Bona) in case a sticky spill happens (surely not) on the floor.
I guess the most important thing is to be conscience of what you are using every day and make it very accessible! I have 2 caddies full of other cleaners that I use on a weekly basis, but they are kept in another area of the house, not in the prime real estate section of my kitchen! Hope this helps and that you are inspired to simplify your life!!

Again I am impressed. You amaze me. Wish I had it in me to do as you do. Perhaps, another day! Love you, my dear.
