Hello, Friends!! I haven’t done an organization blog post for awhile, so here I am, cleaning and organizing my freezer at our lakehouse! This freezer disorganization has really been bugging me because I can’t really see what I have. SO, let me take you step by step on how I finally organized it.
Here’s the BEFORE picture.
I have one of those refrigerators that have french doors on top for the cooling part and then the freezer on the bottom. It’s like the fridge we have at our primary house except there’s an ice maker in the freezer here.
See what I mean? You can see some of the items in here, but not all. The freezer has a top drawer that pulls out and then the bottom drawer holds more frozen food. We have more than just food in here, too. We have some ice packs for any “boo boos” that might occur and some we use for transporting cold food around in our thermals.
I found that these Container Store Multi-Purpose bins are the perfect size to use to categorize & separate food. They are the medium size.
Here are the categories that I chose- 2 Meats, Fruits & Veggies, Bread, and Miscellaneous. By having that Miscellaneous bin, it helps me be flexible with where I store those uncategorized foods in the freezer!
I took out all of the items in the freezer and gave it a good cleaning. I started by vacuuming out the crumbs in the bottom. It REALLY needed it!
Next, I wiped everything down with a glass cleaner and paper towels! I DID have to remind myself that it didn’t have to be perfect. It was ok to have a few crumbs still left in there. Any perfectionists out there?? Yeah, me too!
Well, this is how it turned out. I’m so happy with it! I can see what I have now!
In the top, I used what I had to organize most of the sweet treats and coffee. There are a couple of freezer packs in there, too. The rest of the freezer packs I put out in our garage freezer because I don’t use them every day! I dumped the ice from the ice maker, too. It was getting full and the ice cubes were sticking together in clumps. Ta Da!!! What do you think? Would you try this? or do you think it’s too much??
Thanks for stopping by! Next week I’m sharing my Day in the Life! You can see what this Retirement Life is all about!! =) See you next time!!
That is wonderful. My sister has the same type of freezer space. I will have to show her what a wonderful system this is.
Really love your blog. Thanks,
Beverley Liberty
