Time for another link up with Erika and Shay! This month we are talking about how we pack lunches for our kids!! This post is an old one- 3 years old to be exact! Now that my kids are grown and only my daughter is still home, we don’t pack many lunches anymore! Our high school has plenty of wonderful meal choices! The original post was when she was in middle school and was packing her lunch on certain days. Keep in mind that she didn’t have a lot of time to eat, so she kept it a simple lunch.
I still feel like it’s a good guideline for a cold lunch!
So, here goes….. OUR 4 INGREDIENT LUNCH.
I’m a big believer in supporting the hot lunch program at school. I think it helps the school monetarily and it encourages kids to try new and different food. But, some days my kids want to take a cold lunch to school. Here’s a sampling of what my daughter thinks is a fun and delicious cold lunch!
The 4 Ingredients that make a good cold lunch are:
A protein
A fruit or vegetable
Something crunchy
A little sweet treat
Simple as that!! You can choose what they put in their lunch or your kiddo can! My best tip is to let them choose what they bring…it ups the odds that the food will get eaten instead of landing in the trash at school!
Here’s a list of what’s coming the rest of the year!!
Happy Wednesday!! See you next week!!
I LOVE your four things! My son (who is going into second grade) would rather hurry up and eat (if he eats much at all) just so he can get outside to recess. He would really benefit from this!
Thanks for stopping by, Jenna!!
I’m all for simple too! If you can believe it my kids do not have a hot lunch (or cold lunch) program so we pack every day! I wouldn’t mind a few school lunches mixed in with our home packed lunches.
Oh gosh, packing every day- that would be tedious! So glad you stopped in to visit, Jaclyn!!
Love the subject today. I an sure that there would be a lot of interesting choices….
