Alright, I’ll admit it. My kids aren’t big fans of eating sandwiches. Sandwiches were a staple for me at lunch growing up, and I really like a good sandwich…especially when I can add KETCHUP!! But with my kids, not so much.
I have found a way to change the appearance of the “dreaded sandwich”, so my kids will gobble these up, and they don’t even realize they are eating a sandwich!
Here are the cast of characters for this recipe…..shaved meat (turkey), sliced cheese, bread, and butter…..
Put the sandwich together and butter the outside of the bread on both sides….(yes, you can use margarine or even spray the bread with butter flavored cooking spray)
Put the completed sandwiches on a panini press, or heated frying pan, sprayed with cooking spray…..
Wait the required 3 or 4 minutes (flip them once if using a frying pan)….and wah-lah…..your sandwiches are no longer sandwiches…..they are called Paninis!! (Pah-knee-knees)
You’d better make a few of these because they will disappear FAST!! I served these last night with a fruit salad. In the Winter, they are especially good when served with a bowl of soup!! Enjoy!!
And the George Foreman works well, too!
