Just wanted to share the books that we’re reading right now. We still have a few weeks of school left, so there’s not much time for reading, but I know my family will get back into reading once school is out!
Here are the first three…
Made to Crave by Lysa Terkeurst: This is my selection for May. I just finished a book club, studying another one of Lysa’s books, “Unglued.” I enjoyed it so much and could relate to the author so I decided to try another selection from her. This book received 5 stars (out of 5) on Amazon.
Divergent by Veronica Roth: This is my 11 year old daughter’s selection. This is a fictional book that takes place in a frightening and scary city similar to Chicago. Readers are saying that the book is similar to The Hunger Games and targets the same reading audience. It’s a thick book, so it will certainly give her a challenge! This book received 4.5 stars (out of 5) stars on Amazon.
Uncommon by Tony Dungy: My 21 year old son is reading this book. This book is written by NFL player and Coach, Tony Dungy. Dungy reveals secrets to achieving significance that he has learned from his remarkable parents, his athletic and coaching career, his mentors, and his walk with God. This book received 4.5 stars (out of 5) on Amazon.
Boundaries For Leaders: by Dr. Henry Cloud. My husband is reading this book. In this non-fiction book, Dr. Cloud offers practical advice on how to manage teams, coach direct reports, and instill an organization with strong values and culture. This book received 5 stars (out of 5) on Amazon.
Frankenstein: by Mary Shelley. My 18 year old son is reading this for his British Literature class in high school. The book revolves around a young Swiss student discovering the secret of animating lifeless matter and, by assembling body parts, creates a monster who vows revenge on his creator after being rejected from society. This book received 4 stars (out of 5) on Amazon.
Crispin, The Cross of Lead: by AVI. My 14 year old son is reading this book. This book is historical fiction and one reviewer wrote, “Avi’s plot is engineered for maximum thrills, with twists, turns, and treachery aplenty.” This book received 4 stars (out of 5) on Amazon.
I’m always looking for good books to read…please leave your suggestions in the comments!!
