We had an interesting Father’s Day this year. We had just gotten home the day before from Hubby’s Dad’s funeral in Iowa. The family had all gathered together for the funeral, so we weren’t sure if we would host Father’s Day.
We decided to get together anyway, because heck, we always have fun with the family!! We were in need of a few laughs!! The whole gang, except for son #3 (he was working in northern WI) came up to our house and we celebrated the Fabulous Dads in our family!!
I swear my hubby is the BEST griller of all time!!! We had a “MANLY MEAL” as some would call it!! My Dad purchased some really good lookin’ steaks from Costco (UM, 10 pounds worth!!) and Hubby grilled ’em up!!
Yes, yes, you see some Macaroni corn casserole in the background!!! It was GONE the first run through- mental note, make 2 next time!!! Hehehe!!
Here’s the whole Manly Spread…. yes, even baked beans! =) I threw in some melon on the buffet to add color and some “Healthy” too!!
Make sure you drool over my Mom’s homemade bread in the lower left. So great!!!
The kids were excited about the meal, but as you can see, there wasn’t any pushing or shoving going on!! Just some kind of gang sign or PEACE OUT sign?? Kids these days!!
There were a whole lot of things going on besides eating…..
Our grandson was introduced to “walking the loon.” a handmade toy made by my mother in law in the 1990’s for her grand kids!! He got the hang of it pretty easily!!
We practiced making duck faces….
This was VERY entertaining!!
I got Hubby this shirt…If you only knew the spoiling that goes on between he and Honey Bee!
Son #2 and his wife finally let the secret out….they’re expecting a baby in November!!
Speaking of food babies…..did I mention that we had dessert??
All store bought pies….Caramel Apple and Strawberry Rhubarb- delicious!! Don’t worry about anyone starving at our house!!
Hubby change into a shirt that the kids made him a few years back. It’s based on one of their favorite movies, Nacho Libre!! “Nacho Average Dad.”
These guys are so well trained!! I called for all Dads to come to the kitchen for a picture….they lined up so orderly!! And they even smiled…well, the non-Dad didn’t smile, but that’s OK.
DID SOMEONE SAY IT’S PLAID DAY???
The more that I parent, the more I love and appreciate the Dad I was given. I sure do LOVE that Scuzzball!! ( He will understand that joke!!)
Happy Father’s Day!!
That was wonderful, Jill. The food was fantastic. We enjoyed bringing the steak and thankful that John was the perfect grill master. He does a superb job every time. I missed Courtney in the kennel and I missed the duck faces. So funny. It was a great day and so grateful to all be together….almost all. Thanks for all of your Dad’s gifts. He has thoroughly enjoyed them all. We even got a car wash today. Thanks for sharing the day with such wonderful photos. You do a marvelous job with Jill on the Hill. Just know that we appreciate your hard work with this blog and we appreciate you and all of the family.
I appreciate your encouraging words, Mom!! It was a fabulous day!!
Looks like the perfect day!
My heart was so happy to be together!! Thanks, Holly!!!
