We are a family who LOVES traditions! One of our family traditions is to put up Christmas decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving. Most of the kids are usually home, we put on holiday music, and my worker bees kids graciously bring up the Christmas trees (yes, fake ones) and all of the Christmas decor tubs.
In order to put up Christmas decorations, we must first take down the Fall decor…boo hoo! After doing this year after year, I’ve found a very easy way to get things packed up !
First, go through each room of your house and gather all of your Fall decor and put it in one place. ( We only decorate a few rooms of the house, so it’s not a difficult task. ) While you’re gathering the Fall items, have your minions kids bring up the Fall tubs from the basement right along with the Christmas ones too. In our case, we have 2 Fall tubs.
It’s easy for me to pack the items up, because I know just which bin to use. Decorations for the dining room go directly in that bin, etc.
Obviously, our Fall wreath wouldn’t fit inside the bins, so I simply put it in a large Ziplock storage bag, and I set it on top of one of the tubs on a shelf downstairs.
and yes, this is what your house will look like during the process of switching the decor, but I promise the mess will be worth it !!
and if you are overwhelmed and stressed about decorating, or don’t have any help from family members, why not just hang a wreath on the door, have a simple pre-lit 2 foot tree on a table, throw out some red candles and call it DONE! Make it easy, and give yourself a break!
One last thing….before you take down your Fall decor, snap a picture and include it in your Fall bins. You can use that to re-create your scheme if you don’t feel inspired to switch things up the next year!
You have done it again! Lots of good tips and enjoyed reading about the minions….er, kids! Too funny! Good job and now you are ready for the Christmas Holidays and all of the festivities. <3
Hope you’re up for making more noodles and rolls!!! Love you Momma!!
