Welcome to SUMMER at the lake!! We started celebrating Father’s Day last year with all of the kids and grandkids at the lake, but we called it Bass Caster weekend! IT was a blast, so we decided it would be an annual thing! So, this past weekend was the SECOND annual BassCaster weekend! The weekend is full of fun, but the big deale are the prizes for catching the biggest bass, catching the first fish, etc.!
Some family members came late in the day on Thursday, but the majority of the people came up to the lake on Friday.
THURSDAY
our oldest son’s family came up around dinner time on Thursday. We finished dinner and headed out for the first boat ride of the season (for them.)
Some enjoyed the ride and apparently, some threw a line out to practice for the competition on Friday! Check out this big ol’ northern pike!! Our daughter-in-law attributed the big catch to her lucky charm- her son that was in the baby front pack!!
The fishing didn’t last long, but it was sure a beautiful night!!
FRIDAY
The girlies started the day with the cutest braids, courtesy of their Auntie!!
The dads had their turn fishing earlier, so the Mamas took their turn fishing or just relaxing! I’m so darn proud of them for being such great, hands-on, Dads. BTW, half of the fun of the weekend was just sitting on the patio and talking, comparing stocks, sharing memes, talking about favorite lures, etc!
The cousins sure like to color!! And so does GIGI, my Mom.
Oh my goodness, I love this view, too!! The ages from left to right- 6,3,4,4,4!
Each night a different family took a turn at cooking. It was our night to cook, so here’s what we grilled up! My parents provided the dessert- DQ cake and cookies.
Grandpa took some of the kiddos around the lake on the boat…and others joined in!! It was another beautiful night!!
After the kids went to bed, the adults played our favorite card game- NERTZ. It’s basically multiple-player solitaire. I will just say that it’s VERY competitive and LOUD!
Saturday
It was another beautiful day at the lake! There were plenty of fun things to do, outside and inside!
The biggest fish was caught by the cook below ↓↓↓
We had a delicious “Breakfast for Dinner” on Saturday Night!
3 dozen eggs, 3 pounds of bacon, LOTS of pancakes, sausage, cheese, tortillas, hashbrowns, grapes, and all the fixings!!
Yes, this is 3 pounds of bacon!! WOW!
Of course, there was more FISHING!!!
And I caught THIS! I should get a prize for this don’t ya think???
Sunday
Sunday brought Puzzle Time!
More fishing (biggest Bass winner right there!)
Bottle Bash was popular! Later, the kids took apart the poles and made swords! Gotta love boys!
and chillin’ with the babes!!
After everyone left, this guy made an appearance to do a little fishing of his own!
We love ALL of the Dads in our family, but this guy holds a special place in my heart. MY DAD!
