I keep thanking Mary over and over again for organizing this challenge! I am making huge strides in getting this house of mine decluttered! This challenge has come at just the right time in my life- 2 of my sons are off to college and my other 2 are at school during the day! Kudos to those of you who are attempting this challenge AND have little kids at home- you’re awesome!!
Our challenge this week was to declutter our Guest Room/Craft Room. Because we really don’t technically have a guest room, I decided to just declutter and organize the other 2 kid rooms in our house.
Here is Bedroom #3. This is currently one of my son’s rooms that has gone to college. The bedroom is located in the basement and is very close to the bathroom, so when we have guests, they stay in that bedroom. As you may notice, it’s again a very tiny bedroom, especially with a Queen sized bed in it!!
Here’s another view…
Did you notice something? Yep, you guessed it, there’s not even enough room in this bedroom for a dresser! To solve that problem, we put the dresser inside the closet!!
Next up is my daughter’s room, or Bedroom #4. After having 3 sons and then a daughter, you can bet that I couldn’t wait to paint her room PINK- and I did…BUBBLE GUM PINK! Here is her room- taken 4 years ago…(my daughter is on the left.)
I nearly cried earlier this year when she announced that she was tired of the pink room and wanted to repaint it! After talking to her about changing the color, we decided on a nice neutral gray color. Along with the change in paint color, we also purchased a different comforter set (I love Target!!!) and added some new accessories to make it more of a “Tween room.” Here’s the view from the door…
Many of my children are type- A, (halleluiah! ) so keeping the room organized wasn’t a hard task, once I got it organized. Together, we set up a few organizational systems and the room is now easy to keep clean! Here’s a look at her closet.
Her beauty station is where she gets ready in the morning. Looking a little closer, this area is even organized into categories. On the left is her bowl of lip gloss, on the right is her hair caddy and the pink chest in the middle holds her perfumes. I realize when she starts to wear makeup this area will have to be revamped, but for now it works!!
She keeps her necklaces organized on a wall to the left of the window.
Moving around the room, we come to the bedside table. Because this could easily become a dumping ground, I encourage her to only have a few things on display. (Yes, that’s a picture of my daughter with her super cute and furry chinchilla named “Cheeks!”
The drawers in the bedside table are organized this way…
The large dresser across the room is organized like this…
Even the backside of her door is utilized by storing her robe, purse and her weekly calendar! She LOVES her room!!
Thanks for taking the tour of both bedrooms…hope this helps you declutter and organize your home!!
