Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, was it cold last weekend!! (Hello, -24 degree windchill!) These cuties didn’t stay out long to do their “business.” “Hurry Momma, let us in!”
Hubs and I aren’t too fond of cheesy Hallmark holidays, so Valentine’s Day isn’t all that important to us. Instead, we celebrated MY BIRTHDAY!!! Yay! Hubby booked a room at a hotel about 40 minutes from our home and we arrived in the late afternoon on Friday. The Hotel was beautiful! Not only that, it was WARM. As I mentioned earlier, the wind chill was -24 degrees so we hustled our luggage into the hotel and up to the third floor. The room was so stately that I felt like we were staying in the Lincoln room at the White House. The huge drapery, Victorian furniture and spacious room were perfect for our getaway! Can I mention the bathroom? The HUGE jacuzzi tub and all top of the line fixtures! Even a tv in the bathroom. Really!
I honestly didn’t know how to use the shower, just too many choices… regular shower head, rain forest shower head and so many sprayers that almost knocked me down. I’m a simple girl, just a shower head and warm water is all I need!! Make sure to check out the picture below of the patio furniture at the entrance of the hotel…there was NO dilly dallying or porch sittin’ going on at ALL. Brrrr.
We had a nice dinner in town where all I could think of was SHRIMP. So I had shrimp with mango avocado salsa and hubby had lobster ravioli. We ended the dinner with a little creme brulee for me and chocolate lasagna for the mister. Nope, we didn’t see a show or have after dinner drinks or go dancing. We went right back to the hotel and watched shark tank and 20/20. We’re so romantic.
Saturday morning the car struggled to start, but we found our way to a restaurant for breakfast. The place was hoppin’ so I knew it would be good and it did not disappoint! Our intention was to walk around town to all the cute little shops but we only made it to a few before our ears about froze off . We did manage to find an awesome bread store that also conveniently had hot chocolate and coffee! Because we grasped onto our drinks and the warmth warmed our hands for a few minutes more, we wandered into a few more boutiques, and then headed back home just after noon. It was a great getaway for us both!
Meanwhile, back at home…the dogs were worried sick about us.
They had a most excellent dog sitter….Sweet Pea! No she doesn’t dress this way to dog sit, she had a presentation at school so I forced her snapped a picture before she flew out the door to the school bus.
Another exciting thing this week was that our oldest baby child turned 24 this week!! It’s so hard to believe that he is so old! A college graduate, married and HAPPY! That makes my Momma heart happy!
The good news is that by the weekend, temps will be in the high 40’s! Looking forward to a stroll around the neighborhood on the weekend!
Did you catch last week’s quick and easy recipe? You can find it HERE. See you next week!

Oh, my! This was all excellent. Loved the hotel and the room. Your doggies are always adorable and the pic of Min could win prizes….and hearts. (And Bella is so sweet and pretty, too) Jealous of the Bread Store. I know that their bread is fabulous. Sorry the week-end was so cold. I’m sure there were a lot of shops you would have liked to visit. SweetPea is adorable in her dress. Hope the presentation went well. And Happy Birthday to your first born. Hard to believe that he is 24 and may I say that we are so proud of this young man. Such a kind and loving soul. Thanks for all of the lovely photos and the nice story of your week-end away.
