At our house, don’t even think about bringing out the Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving dinner is cleaned up! Yep, I’m one of “THOSE” people!! We even waited 2 whole days after Thanksgiving to pull out the Christmas bins!
Because hubby thinks 2 trees are necessary, I put him in charge of them! How’s that for delegating? Like a well oiled machine, our crew started moving and rearranging furniture to accommodate the green trees of festivity!
Yes, these two look like their complaining, but trust me…it was all a show!! They giggled and teased each other, trying to figure out how to get this ficus tree down the narrow hallway. Maybe son #2 was a still a teensy bit jealous that his little brother is clearly a few inches taller as evidenced in this picture. Could it be??
Maybe this is why I don’t get excited to put up all of the Christmas decor. It somehow looks as though Christmas has “thrown up” in my kitchen!! (Please note cute dog in picture)
Because we don’t take the time to tromp through the woods and chop down our tree as so many do on facebook, (love seeing the pictures though) we simply pull all 3 pieces of the tree out of the cardboard box, put it together, and plug it in. TA-DA!! Instant Christmas!!
Hubs was fluffing and putting the final touches on one of the trees- until he cut his hand, of course. We all took a short break.
The short break made time for this picture of awesomeness – WORD.
Can anyone take a guess what football team he likes??
The helpers
I always enjoy seeing the ornaments from years past. Here are some old school and church ornaments!
Some don’t look very pretty but have special meaning to us. Ornament on the top right is one my hubby made as a boy from a wooden clothespin. Bottom right is one that I painted in girl scouts in my ‘tween years. The Dora ornament, well, is just embarrassing. Sweet Pea went through an “I love Dora” stage. Come on, admit it, your kids did too!!
Here’s the dining room before and after…with horrible lighting.
I like this lighting much better. May I present our Dining Room….
Now, onto the family room… my favorite room in the house!!!
Well, the Fall stuff is all tucked away and YES, my kitchen is back under control. It took about 2 hours to decorate and clean up- so thankful for my many elves that helped to decorate!

So much fun strolling through this Week in Review. Your elves made everything much easier….and I know that they love helping. Hey, cute little dog peeking around the corner. She is precious. Ornaments hold so many memories. Love that you still have them. After all of that work, it all looks so pretty and serene. Ya’ll did a great job. And hubby is a keeper. He is a great Christmas helper….
Merry Christmas….glad to see our house is not the only home that has a large assortment of ornaments that may not be the most beautiful but hold a lot of special memories. I always love putting up the Christmas tree and listening to the kids comments.
