Because I’m a pretty minimalistic person, people often ask me how many towels I keep in my house, or what is that magic number of towels that I store to stay organized. Well, since it’s just my hubby and I who use towels in our primary bathroom, I keep two sets for each of us. In the winter, I wash towels once a week (Sundays) because they have a chance to dry between uses. Summer is a different story. With the heat and humidity, I wash towels on Wednesdays and Sundays because they don’t quite dry all of the way between uses and I never want mold and mildew to set in.
I’ve invented something that really helps me save space in our bathroom closet and makes things super easy to change out the towels. On wash day, I gather all of the towels in our bathroom, throw them in the washer go back to the bathroom and pull out the “packet” of towels that are in the bathroom closet and replace them. Each packet contains 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels, and 2 washcloths. I stack them on top of each other to save space in the closet, and they’re easy to pull out and replace on wash day.
When the clean towels come out of the dryer, I fold them. Yes, sometimes I fold on my kitchen counter so I can watch tv that way while I fold! Does anyone else do that?? No? Just me?? Yep, I’m crazy for sure!
I fold them and stack them back into a packet so they are ready to go back in the closet for next time.
Here they are, ready to grab in my closet. See how little space this takes up?
Obviously, we have more towels in the house in the other two bathrooms when family and friends visit, but this is how I can keep things minimalistic and organized in our bathroom. The less you own, the easier it is to keep organized!!
Please let me know what you think of this. Would this work for you?
