Our family time is pretty important to us and so are our traditions! Today I want to share a few of our favorite traditions through the years!
We have strong feelings about decorating for Christmas. The decor goes up AFTER Thanksgiving…even if it’s just the next day! Now, Christmas music, that’s a little different! I feel that if the radio stations are playing it in early November, I can easily partake…hehehe!
Gotta support our Green Bay Packers!!! Go, Pack, Go!!
We celebrate the reason for the season, the birth of Jesus, at church for one of their Christmas Eve services- it’s always family friendly and a WONDERFUL service!!
On a side note, we’ve recently adopted the tradition of going out for Chinese food on Christmas eve, just like in “The Christmas Story” movie!! So fun, and Mama doesn’t have to cook!!! Amen and Amen!!
Christmas Morning! When the kids were little, they would all sleep in one room and set an alarm for 6:50 and they would count down the minutes until 7 am by doing push ups to signal the start of the morning festivities. Now that they are older, they sleep in their separate bedrooms and wake up time is now 9am, without the push ups!! Grandma & Grandpa join us bright and early now that they live close to us!! While everyone is gathering in the living room, I put our very special special apple craisin french toast in the oven to bake.
After breakfast, or during breakfast, the gift opening starts. As you can see, we are not patient, and we are certainly not concerned about the mess!!
Can you find both dogs???
Our Christmas feast…is a tradition in itself!! We are spoiled by having the most delicious ham, swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes with homemade noodles, seven layer salad, rolls and so many desserts!! OH MY!!
After naps….HA…. we usually work on a puzzle and play games, not at the same time though!! Some of our favorites have been BINGO, when the kids were young!
We now do a white elephant gift exchange….oh, and last year we did the bean boozled challenge too- we won’t EVER do that one again…ugh!!!
It gets intense people….
and MORE fun….everyone is such a good sport!!!
Sometime around Christmas we take a few days and visit my in-laws who live out of state. They always spoil us rotten and we enjoy our time there!!
We LOVE our Christmas traditions, and I hope some of these traditions stick and are passed down to the next generation!!!! What is one tradition that YOU love??? Leave me a comment!!!
