Am I the only one who has trouble storing those Tupperware bowls and food storage containers?? I seem to collect them as we have empty lunchmeat containers, margarine containers, and Cool Whip containers! My Mom has quite a collection of food storage containers, too, so maybe it’s genetic?? And she got some of her containers from HER Dad!
I was so tired of the mess with plastic and lids, not to mention that plastic wasn’t good for heating things up in the microwave. Over the years, I went to using microwave-safe Tupperware containers and very recently, I moved to using glass to store leftovers. I learned that I really liked the look of the containers and that they were easier to store and find.
Does this look familiar?? This isn’t my cabinet, but I remember a time when it looked like this!!
I have organized my containers in two different ways. Neither one is “right” or “best.” Feel free to try one of these ways to help your drawer or cabinet look better and stay organized! It’s always a good thing when you can find what you’re looking for quickly!
This cabinet is organized by shape. The circular containers are on one shelf and the rectangular & square ones are on the bottom. Notice that I kept the lids on top of each container. If you’re going to do this, just make sure that the glass is completely dry before adding the lid or you might just have a mold issue (ick.)
Here’s another way that I’ve organized them. What I did was “nest” the same shaped containers and then store the lids separately. I used a box at the time – Organizing doesn’t have to cost a lot of money!
How do you store your food containers?? Which one of these ways makes the most sense to you??
I recently switched to glass containers as well! I have yet to get rid of some of the old Gladware ones. I’ll probably keep them in another cabinet until after the holidays. Always nice to have to send leftovers home with guests! (And I’m fine not getting them back!)
Lu, that’s what I do, too! I have a big basket in my pantry of those plastic containers! The ARE great for sending food home with people!!! Have a fun weekend!!
Right now my containers are jumbled up in a box that says “ Atlas van lines” I think it’s a box my parents used when we moved from PA to KY in 1979….a box I took from my moms in July so I could pack up my kitchen to move to our new home. Haven’t quite figured out the “storage container” storage just yet…. Barely got the tape off the moving box!
Well, those are antiques now!! Haha!!!
Um, basically like your first picture, except in a drawer!
So very organized…sweeeet!!!
Wait, I mean the second picture! LOL!
