According to the Merriam- Webster Dictionary, this is the definition of bonding:
BONDING: the formation of a close relationship especially through frequent or constant association.
A wise, wise woman once told me that a quick and easy way to make your child feel special, loved and bonded to you was to do 3 simple things.
1. Make eye contact: When your child talks to you, look them in the eye and let them know you are listening. Isn’t it much easier to stare and at the computer screen and just listen to them? I plead guilty to this! Look at them…right into their eyes. Kids want your full attention !
2. Smile: People say it takes more muscles to frown than smile, so SMILE at your kids!! It lets them know that you’re happy with them!
3. Touch: It might be a pat on the back, a hug or even a slight touch of the arm. Touch is powerful!
Combine all three of these bonding agents, and a strong, trusting bond can be formed!
*On a side note, this also works with teachers who are trying to build a bond with students in their classroom-
