Bacon! Bacon! Bacon!
Do I have your attention yet??
I don’t know many people that don’t like bacon! We have it for breakfast sometimes, and it’s also oh so good in recipes!! Right now we’re eating a lot of BLT sandwiches because we have an overabundance of garden tomatoes! (why do they all come on at once??) Wait, let me be totally honest- they are my parent’s tomatoes…they have so many and are generous to share! Our tomatoes were hit and miss this year from our garden.
Anywhoo- Sometimes I need a few slices of bacon and sometimes I’m feeding a crowd for breakfast and need a boatload of bacon! How many slices I need determines the way that I cook the bacon.
As far as I know, there are three schools of thought for cooking bacon.
Pan fry
Microwave
Bake
If I need just 6 or so slices, I put down a paper towel on a plate, place the slices on the paper towel, cover with another paper towel and microwave for as many minutes as I have bacon slices. So… 6 slices = 6 minutes.
I’ll be honest…I NEVER pan fry bacon- it’s just too messy. Knowing me, I would get grease spots on my clothes and all over the stove!!
My FAVORITE way to cook a LOT of bacon with hardly any mess is BAKING IT in the oven!
It’s a great way to cook for a crowd, there’s no spatter or mess, and you can multitask by making pancakes at the same time! WIN WIN WIN!!
Let me show you how I do that!!
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.
Use a cookie sheet and cover it with parchment paper- Add the BACON!!!
Throw that bacon in the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes (I cooked mine 20 minutes) depending on how you like your bacon: chewy or crunchy.
I have so many good memories of waking up at my Grandparents house and smelling bacon!! I practically RAN to the breakfast table! Good times!
When bacon is done to the desired crispness (or lack there of) transfer to a paper towel and then put another paper towel on top of the cookie sheet mess to soak up some of the grease.
To clean up, wrap up and throw away the parchment paper (and paper towels) and throw away- clean up is easy breezy! You can put the cookie sheet back in the cabinet!!
How do YOU cook your bacon??
Thanks. I microwave my bacon the same way you do.m Six slices of bacon/six minutes! I have never put it in the oven but your info will help me when I do. I appreciate it. And nice job, girlie!
