Back in March, a reader asked “What advice would you give for someone starting out in the kitchen? What are common spices to have on hand when you’re baking?
Well, you can read about my favorite baking spices HERE.
Today I want to share with you my basic COOKING spices. These are the spices that I reach for the most! There’s a whole lotta cookin’ going on in my kitchen and by the looks of these bottles, they are well used and almost empty!
I present to you….my favorites!
Basil
Bay leaves
Chili Powder
Cumin
Dried Parsley
Garlic Powder
Lemon Pepper
Oregano
Taco Seasoning (You can make your own instead of buying the packets!)
Thyme
Chesapeake Bay- *Penzey’s Spice ( Sprinkle on fish before baking)
Fox Point- *Penzey’s Spice (Sprinkle on grilled vegetables)
Did I leave any of your favorites out?? Which spices do YOU love for cooking??
Dried (minced) onion….I use a lot of it. And onion powder, too! Your choices are excellent and they are very much “the basics”. Thanks for sharing.
