The challenge this week kicked my bootie!! Mary from Mary Organizes challenged us to de-clutter closets, and the first closet I conquered was a disaster! While I had big plans to attack 3 closets this week, I just didn’t have the time or energy, so I settled for 2. It’s not about perfection, it’s about taking baby steps to improve your home and life, right???!!
Here is the disaster of a closet I am talking about. We use this closet as a pantry overflow area. The shelves are deep and items can get lost very easily!
Here are a few more close ups (embarrassed to show you all!)
Here is the process I went through. I had 3 piles…
I also had a donate pile that’s not pictured.
One shelf at a time I unloaded the goods onto a large table…
Unfortunately, the cost of clutter is high as I was sickened by the fact that I had let a lot of the food expire and it had to be tossed out. Instead of beat myself up for wasting the food, I continued to trudge along, knowing that with this clean out, many of the food items would be contained and wouldn’t get pushed to the back of the pantry to be wasted.
Here are the finished AFTER photos….whew!
Here are the details of my organized pantry closet, starting from the bottom…
Up next, and MUCH easier, was our coat closet by the front door.
Here’s the BEFORE
and here’s the AFTER
and here were my HELPERS…
I know it was a lot of work, but it sure looks nice!! Congrats!
Wow! HUGE difference! And the baskets are just soo pretty!
