When you can’t get back to sleep!!

How many times have you awakened in the night and can’t fall back to sleep??  You’ve got a big day ahead and you need to get some rest, yet you’re wide awake at crack of midnight.  What do you do?? Maybe one of these suggestions will help you get back to sleep!!

  1. Don’t get out of bed (unless you need to use the bathroom)
  2. Don’t watch the clock.
  3. Try to relax using muscle relaxation techniques.
  4. If you’re not back to sleep in 20 minutes, get up and find an uninteresting activity like reading something that you’ve already read or listen to relaxing music until you get sleepy again.
  5. Resist the urge to use back lit screens such as computers, cell phones or tablets when trying to get sleepy again.

I know from experience that this problem is real and very frustrating!!  It can quickly become a vicious cycle!  I hope some of these tips help you!!!
